27 Scriptures about Life

Skip to the Scriptures about Life

In the Bible, life is a divine gift from God, beginning with the breath that animated Adam (Genesis 2:7). Throughout its pages, life is not merely a biological existence but encompasses a profound relationship with the God and an eternal destiny.

In the Old Testament, the Psalms and Proverbs especially highlight the preciousness of life, instructing believers to cherish it and seek wisdom for its betterment (Psalm 34:12-13; Proverbs 3:1-2).

The New Testament further elevates this understanding as Jesus proclaims He came to grant life in its fullest, offering not just existence, but an abundant, eternal life in relationship with Him (John 10:10; John 3:16).

This eternal perspective is intertwined with the teachings of the apostles, as they urge believers to see their earthly existence as a brief sojourn, a time to live by faith, looking forward to an everlasting life with Christ (Philippians 1:21; 1 John 5:11-12).

The culmination of life’s narrative in the Scriptures is found in Revelation, where a renewed creation void of death and sorrow awaits those who have placed their trust in the Savior (Revelation 21:4). In essence, the Bible presents life as a God-given gift, meant to be lived in communion with Him through Jesus Christ, characterized by purpose, hope, and the promise of eternity.

“In the path of righteousness is life, and in its pathway there is no death.”
