My favorite scripture is Romans 12:2, which is a prayer I pray daily, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind….” This call enables discernment of God’s will—what is good, acceptable, and perfect. Paul also reminds us that believers have access to the “mind of Christ”, which emphasizes the deep interconnectedness between Christ and His followers.
Our thoughts and mental focus are pivotal; as Isaiah 26:3 expresses, perfect peace is granted to those whose minds steadfastly trust in the Lord. The mind, according to scripture, is not just a repository of thoughts but a battleground of spiritual warfare and the locus of transformation and divine connection. It’s a gift and a responsibility, to be directed towards understanding, wisdom, and the things of the Spirit.
