In the tapestry of the Bible, Jesus is woven as the central figure, foreshadowed in the Old Testament and revealed in the New. Prophetic references from the Old Testament paint vivid pictures of a coming Messiah, setting the stage for His earthly ministry.
Isaiah 53 described Him as a suffering servant, one “pierced for our transgressions” and “crushed for our iniquities,” prefiguring the sacrificial love Jesus would demonstrate on the cross. Similarly, Micah 5:2 pinpointed Bethlehem as the birthplace of the One “whose coming forth is from of old, from ancient days.”
Moving into the New Testament, Jesus Himself made revolutionary claims about His identity. In John 8:58, He declared, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am,” connecting Himself to the eternal nature of God presented in Exodus. His declaration in John 14:6, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life,” emphasized not just His messianic role, but His singular position as the gateway to eternal life.
Across both Testaments, the Scriptures unite in their portrayal of Jesus as the preordained Savior, the bridge between God and humanity, and the fulfillment of centuries-old prophecies.
“Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'”
John 14:6
