You are about to take theology from a stranger on the internet. Here is where that theology comes from.

This page exists so you know what you are reading before you trust it. Everything on this site is written from the convictions below.
The short version
Historic, creedal Christianity. Reformed in its understanding of salvation. Charismatic in its conviction that the gifts of the Spirit did not stop. Written by a lay pastor with an M.Div., for men who want the actual answer rather than a comfortable one.
What we hold without qualification
- Scripture is the word of God, true and authoritative, and it is the final court of appeal for what is taught here.
- One God, eternally Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
- Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man, crucified for sinners, bodily raised, and coming again.
- Salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. It is not earned before conversion and it is not maintained by performance afterward.
- The church is Christ’s body, and no Christian is meant to do this alone.
Where we are Reformed
God is sovereign, including over the parts of your life you would not have chosen. That conviction shapes how this site talks about suffering, calling, and failure. It is why you will not find a promise here that obedience produces a comfortable life.
It also shapes how we talk about joy. The teaching of John Piper, that God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in him, runs underneath most of what is written about purpose and desire on this site.
Where we are charismatic
The gifts of the Spirit described in the New Testament are for the church today. They were not withdrawn when the last apostle died. Sam Storms and Wayne Grudem have both argued this case at length, and this site follows them.
That conviction is held without the excesses that often travel with it. No guaranteed healing, no prophecy that outranks Scripture, no spiritual performance as proof of standing with God.
How that shows up in the writing
- Claims get sourced. Where a theologian is being followed, they get named, with the book or sermon.
- Disputed questions get flagged as disputed. Faithful Christians disagree about real things. Flattening that would make this site easier to read and less honest.
- Shame is not used as a lever. Conviction and condemnation are different, and this site is written on the assumption that you have had enough of the second one.
- No manufactured urgency. If something is free, it stays free. If a price is going up, it is because the price is going up.

Ken Freire, a lay pastor with a Master of Divinity. Where a subject sits outside his competence, this site quotes people whose competence it is, or it does not cover the subject.
