In the Bible, prayers for overcoming anger focus on seeking God’s peace and wisdom to replace feelings of rage with understanding and patience. One example is found in James 1:19-20, which encourages believers to be “quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry,” as human anger does not produce the righteousness God desires.

Another prayerful attitude is reflected in Ephesians 4:31-32, urging the faithful to “let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice,” and instead be kind, tenderhearted, and forgiving, just as God in Christ forgave us.
